Where embers are set aflame and feline daisies bare ones name. A magnetic echo-chamber; the luminous metaphor, drenched in a thundering troposphere, inhaling enigmatic reveries, an ancient language for pollinating hiccups. Or, cosmic incantations for those sleepless September nights at the river of celestial perseverance.
Stay until the very end for velvety tunes by Natasza Zylska, Hareton Salvanini, Brooklyn Express and many others.
Welcome to your Friday morning swoon session, dear Venusian.
I'm Gina Jelinsky, your host, and you're tuning in to Hey Venus Radio. This is episode number 137, Elysium Euphorium. September has made its way into our hearts. Like a metaphor. As tall as it is wide, those moments frozen in time. Once the sun disappears beyond the horizon, it's like drop in temperature. This is the time of the year we can begin to take a closer, closer look at the potential for well, the potential for uh for some sort of utopia. At the very beginning of time itself, that there were infected elephants who lived in the sky. So they had functional, they had wings, functional wings. They could change their shape at will. This I've uh I've been reading about. I'm imagining these elephants in the clouds. Imagining them as light as water droplets. Just how wonderful it would be to become a drop of water. And how poetry, poetry of the senses is where it's where through utopia. I believe resides where the embers are set aflame. But what does the ball does fire itself burn the hottest? And could an elephant by chance mimic the splendid sound? A thundering troposphere. Every day. Sometimes every second of everything. By the way, maybe this isn't our first recording in our new headquarters. Surprise, surprise, we have relocated. Oh my god, I'm up to my elbows and boxes. It's just uh it's completely uh absurd and delightful. So here we are. And before we dive into some tricks, I've got a curious little cassette tape. Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Elliott. You know, I figured this would be a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_01The naming of cats is a difficult matter. It isn't just one of your holiday games. You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter when I tell you a cat must have three different names.
SPEAKER_00First of all, there's the name that the family use daily, such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo, or James, such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey. All of them sensible everyday names.
SPEAKER_01There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter. Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames, such as Plato, Admitus, Electra, Demeter, but all of them sensible everyday names.
SPEAKER_00But I tell you a cat needs a name that's particular, a name that's peculiar and more dignified. Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular or spread out his whiskers or cherish his pride?
SPEAKER_01Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum, such as Monkus Trap, Quaxo, or Coricopat, such as Bomballurina or else Jellilorum, names that never belong to more than one cat.
SPEAKER_00But above and beyond, there's still one name left over, and that is the name that you never will guess. The name that no human research can discover, but the cat himself knows and will never confess.
SPEAKER_01When you notice a cat in profound meditation, the reason I tell you is always the same. His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name. His ineffable, effable, is an ineffable, deep and inscrutable, singular name. The old gumby cat.
SPEAKER_00I have a gumby cat in mind. Her name is Jenny Annie Dog. Her coat is of the tabby kind with tiger stripes and leopard spots. All day she sits upon the stair, or on the steps, or on the mat. She sits and sits. And that's what makes a gumby cat. But when the day's hustle and bustle is done, then the gumby cat's work is but hardly begun. And when all the family's in bed and asleep, she tucks up her skirts into the basement to creep. She's deeply concerned with the ways of the mice. Their behavior's not good and their manners not nice. So when she's got them lined up on the matting, she teaches them music, saying and catting. I have a gumby cat in mind. Her name is Jenny Annie Dot. Her equal would be hard to find. She likes the warm and sunny spots. All day she sits beside the hearth or on the bed or on my hat. She sits and sits and sits and sits. And that's what makes a gumby cat. But when the day's hustle and bustle is done, then the gumby cat's work is but hardly begun. As she finds that the mice will not ever keep quiet, she is sure it is due to irregular diet. And believing that nothing is done without trying, she sets right to work with her baking and frying. She makes them a mouse cake of bread and dried peas and a beautiful fry of lean bacon and cheese.
SPEAKER_12Thank you for joining me. I've got to go to the post office. You're tuning in to Hey Venus Radio. Well, I think that's pretty much all I've got for us. And what do you know for this episode? How do you feel? Are you ready for some tricks? That is it. You're a good witch or a bad witch.

SPEAKER_02You could have a heaven six, we could have a heaven, kochany i kochany Lecą z drzewa, jak dla mi kasztan. Wprost pod stopy pan roze śniady. Jak cudny, trudnym gra. Jak noc, ty walejce, ludy kasztan ci da mnie serce. A gdy rzekł i dwa słowa, nic więcej. Że kochasz niej i wiatr. Mówiłeś włosy masz jak kasztan. I kasztanowy masz i poczuł blas. Gdyśmy chodzili razem od kochany. Wśród złotych liści barku i wywiad. Wiatr trząsł kasztany pod stopy grady. Mówiłeś, że w najlepiej drwały ci głos, lecz wszędzie miła, to go odpowiada. Za biorę z sobą lutę złotą. Już trzecia jesień park nasz wyzwę. Padają liście strzeli trzeci raz. Lecz twoja miłość do mnie nie wraca. Choć tyle liści w parku i gwiazd. I tylko złoty i kaszta mi został. Mały talizma szczęśliwych dni i ta jesienna piosenka prosta, którą wiatr morze zaniesieci. Ochany, kochany lecą z drzewa, jak tajni kasztan. Prosto ze śniadan. Jak cudny, rudy gra. Ja mądry walej. Cuddy kasztan ci dalej i serce. Pierwszy dwa słowa, nic więcej, że kochasz.
SPEAKER_05I used to open my door pretty much anyone who was trying to look for a place to feel safe, but I made my whole world safer for everyone but me. So I took my bones and I called them my own and I found a place inside that's safe for me and now I wonder the world alone but alone smiling on the inside I'm taking back all the pieces of me they would take I'm offering myself up to the heavens I'm ready to love What I've been given, I'm getting back to my own room.
SPEAKER_07It's such a new I'm picking myself up over the heart that I'm running my breast over my body, I'm back on this.

SPEAKER_18But we add up to more men. When we are close together, it's so plain to see. Together we are better than we used to be. I don't know how to say the things I'm thinking of, but the something more I'm feeling must be love. But the something more I'm feeling must be love.
SPEAKER_05Maybe remember all the reason it's worth. I wanna give you a go until I'm not even so You've been hanging out in my head.
SPEAKER_06I've been imagining you in my bed, but my imagination can only go, only go so far, only go so far. I won't be used to die.
